James m. michino, d.m.d.
Dr. Michino was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, in 2001. Dr. Michino continued his education at Temple University School of Dentistry where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2007.
In 2011, Dr. Michino completed a four-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of the Pacific/Highland General Hospital in Oakland, California, a well-rounded program in a busy county hospital setting. During his time there, he trained in all facets of the specialty including dentoalveolar, implantology, traumatology, pathology, reconstruction and temporomandibular joint surgery. Dr. Michino did rotations at Kaiser Oakland, one of the top centers for orthognathic surgery in California. He also spent time at the Children’s Hospital of Oakland where he learned about management and treatment of pediatric traumatology, pediatric anesthesia and cleft lip/palate.
Dr. Michino is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Hawaii Dental Association, and is a member and past president of the Hawaii Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has full active privileges and is a provider at the Queen’s Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, and Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children. He also is a volunteer attending surgeon at the Queen’s Medical Center Dental Residency Program. He is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
On his days off, Dr. Michino enjoys golf, stand-up paddling, surfing, snowboarding and spending time with his family.
